Blue mosque is a unique construction, it’s the only one mosque extant in Yerevan since ancient to our time, it’s also the largest mosque in all Caucasus, the total area of the mosque account 7000 sq. km. also it`s named Gok Jami, what translates as blue skies. Turkic khan of Erivan Khanate, Huseynali-hano Kadjar, built it in 1766. The architectural complex includes minaret, madrasah, hall for praying, 28 pavilions and a courtyard. There are 12 windows under the high dome, which is unusual for traditional mosques where usually there are no windows at all. The mosque was reconstructed with the help of Iranian masters and nowadays is one of the biggest cultural centers of Iranian community in Armenia.
