The theatre was built in 1940, on the project of the famous Armenian architect, Alexander Tamanyan. In 1935 the project and the model were awarded Grand-Prix on the World Exhibition, in Paris, and nowadays this imposing building by right is one of the main attraction of Yerevan, and already became its visiting card. Unique by its beauty building can seat 1260 opera and ballet - lovers. Here one can see productions of national as well as world classics.
